Hypertrophic Pyloric stenosis

Case Series. 04: Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis
- It occurs due to gross hypertrophy of the muscles of pylorus of the stomach.
- Typically presents between 3-5 weeks with persistent non bilious vomiting.
- Hypochloremic hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis is present and must be corrected before surgery.
- Diagnosis is on Ultrasonography.
- Ramstedt pyloromyotomy: treatment of choice
- Child discharged within a day or two of surgery
